Malaysia is blessed by the fact that the people loves to drum.

Here we would like to introduce another drumming community which started as a club at a local college but is always open for public to join if they want to. KLIUC Drum Circle invites anyone who want to join the drum circle or learn to play percussion. Some of those who came were familiar faces and known to be performing percussion all around Malaysia.

This is a great opportunity and it's free! Don't forget to 'Like' their facebook page. If you are keen to join or even come to watch, the session is at KLIUC every Wednesday night at 10pm. Please refer map at the end of this post for direction. Here are a few more pictures of them.

We care about the community, we care about the world.

We were at Putrajaya for 2 straight days. 23rd for Lorong Seni and on the 24th of April, we were there for 'Gig For Gaza' organized by the Nasyid Underground Community. We see new faces in the picture above but actually, most of them are quite talented percussionists.

Drumming for nature, drumming for harmony, drumming for peace!

Lorong Seni went WILD!!

The streets went wild!!!!

No other thing could stop us that night. The sounds of the drums attracted hundreds of people around Bukit Bintang to come and enjoy the rhythm. The beats were so catchy that some people made their way to the middle and dance. We also got special request to extend our play for a dance sessions with some Arabs!

Everybody was great that night. If you missed out, dont forget to check us on facebook for our next Street Jam session.

2o Seconds of Dansa

Dansa is a West African Rhythm. Easy to learn and fun to play! Watch the video below on how our friends play Dansa. It's a short but sweet video!

Street Jam - 9th April 2011

Nightlife at Bukit Bintang will never be the same anymore! Now that we have a weekly drum circle and jamming session, people can hang out and be entertained free-of-charge. This time we came in a larger group, which means more drums, more sounds, and much more fun than ever! Many people especially the Arabs were keen to dance with us. This is a fantastic way to spend your weekend. Forget all the stress, just come out and see how music can make people smile. If you are too shy to dance, you may quietly tap your feet to rhythm!

Check out a few photos below and more photos have been made available at our facebook page. Please 'Like' us and invite your friends as well.

How to join KL Street Drumming

Maybe some of you are wondering how to join KL Street Drumming?

Before that, let me share a few things on what we actually do during our sessions:
  • We play hand drums - djembe, surdo, etc.
  • We play, teach and learn rhythms.
  • We create 'in the moment' music
KL Street Drumming is not owned by any organization nor individuals. We are just a bunch of people who shares the same passion in drumming and community spirit. It started with a few friends and we hope it to grow. Being an energetic music group at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, we are slowly becoming an attraction to tourists. Everyone is welcomed to either join us play, dance, sing, take photos or videos, or even just to spend your weekend night gathering together watching how we rock the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

No registration needed! People can come and go anytime they like. We do not charge anything for people to join or to see, but if you would like to donate, we are more than happy to accept.

If you haven't seen us yet, we normally play during Saturdays from 9.30pm onwards at Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Visit our facebook page to get dates on when we play.

Hello drum lovers!

So we gathered a few friends and went off to our usual spot at Bukit Bintang and bang drums like hell! It was fun, energetic and lots of people enjoyed it! We played non-stop from around 9pm until 12 midnight. If it wasn't because of the low energy level, perhaps we would be playing until morning. The crowd were wild that night. Many stopped by to take pictures and videos, others joined the party and dance with us! If you feel there's a drummer in you, come out and join us! Let's bang those drums, make music, and have fun!

Below are a few pictures of us playing. Click to enlarge.
