It was great and fun! We see a lot of people including kids making noise, music and having fun!

As we have mentioned before, KLSD and Publika Shopping Gallery is organizing a drum circle which is held every 2nd & 4th week of the month. The session starts from 5.30pm at The Square @ Publika. Everyone can join the drum circle, it's a community thingy. Drum circle is fun, relaxing and a healthy way to spend your time. No prior music knowledge is needed.

Today at the drum circle, we have Haiqal and Shameer to facilitate. It was great playing games with the drums and making good music. Many people joined the drum circle and many others took photos and videos. We're hoping that the circle will grow larger and more people will be interested in drumming.

OMG! KLSD truly rocks!! It was raining for a little bit when we started the jamming session at Bukit Bintang. It did not stopped people from taking taking pictures and videos of us. when the rain stops, the party begins! People were dancing, clapping and playing along with us. They did not want to stop. It was totally a great session. We also got people from a new TV station recording the session.

Sadly, not many photos to share here.

What is a Drum Circle?

Drum Circle is a session where people meet and play hand drums together. Instrument used are: djembe, conga, bongo, and other types of hand percussions. Basically you can bring anything that you can bang and make a sound to a drum circle. Usually drum circle is facilitated by a person known as a drum circle facilitator. Facilitator's main function is to guide the circle towards creating 'in the moment' music. Drum circle should be fun and a recreational way to make music. Drum circle is different from a percussion performance because there should be no audience, instead, everyone should participate and be a part of the circle. Anyone can simply join a drum circle without any prior music knowledge. It's easy, it's addictive!!

About KLSD at Bukit Bintang

Most of you already know that KLSD usually plays at Bukit Bintang every 1st Saturday of the month. This post is to explain exactly what we do over there!

Bukit Bintang is a cultural hub where you can find people from all sort of races, nationality and ages. Every 1st Saturday of the month you can catch KLSD performing live for you in front of Maybank, Jalan Bukit Bintang starting 10pm onwards. For locals, this is a popular spot to be entertained by buskers and street performers almost everyday. No one organizes these events yet none of the performers actually have a permit to do so. Since these kinds of entertainment has been on the street for years and seems safe for public, no action has been taken upon them.

KLSD took this opportunity to make use of this spot offering an alternative night life entertainment for everyone. KLSD is not being paid nor asks to be paid. We do it for free!! All we want is for people to have fun, take pictures & videos, dancing, clapping and singing with us! For those who shares the same passion with us, you are most welcomed to join us play. If you have a percussion instrument, bring it along. If not, you can always play one of ours. Maybe you'll get to learn new skills and rhythms! KLSD uses a friendly approach to the public, aiming to make each session memorable and people can get home with a big smile!

If you haven't seen us at Bukit Bintang, please come this Saturday. KLSD will be there every month as long as the authorities allows us to do so. Occasionally, we will have fire eaters to perform with us as well. For more information, please call 012-313 4681. Check out our facebook page here.
